The Founders

KORY ANDERSON

Builder. Manufacturer. Inventor. Restorer.

Raised in Andover, South Dakota — population 91 — Kory started welding in a garage and never stopped building. He purchased and modernized Dakota Foundry, expanded Anderson Foundries, acquired Muncie Castings, and spent twelve years constructing the 150 Case: the world's largest operating steam traction engine, requiring more than 250 unique castings.

Kory has taken the case for American manufacturing directly to Washington, D.C., and founded Iron Warrior Academy — a 501(c)(3) nonprofit — to invest in the next generation of skilled tradespeople.

Ali left a career in corporate consulting to help build, connect, and amplify the Anderson companies. How It Started

From a Garage in South Dakota to a National Platform

The Anderson story is not a startup story. It is a building story — one decision, one machine, one company at a time.

Andover, SD

Kory grows up in a town of 91 people, surrounded by machinery, agriculture, and the expectation that you fix what breaks and build what you need.

The Garage

He begins welding and fabricating on his own — no formal training, no outside capital. Just the conviction that something bigger is possible.

2010

The 150 Case project begins. A twelve-year mission to build the world's largest operating steam traction engine — requiring more than 250 unique castings, most of which had never been made before.

Rollag, MN

Kory and Ali meet at the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion — the largest working steam show in North America. Steam, strategy, and purpose collide.

Together

They marry and combine what each does best: Kory builds, invents, and manufactures. Ali connects, organizes, and scales. The companies begin to grow.

2022

The 150 Case earns Guinness World Record recognition. Dakota Foundry is acquired, modernized, and named one of America's top 100 small businesses by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
